The District of Columbia utilizes electronic titles. If your title is electronic, you will need to obtain a physical copy prior to pickup.

If the vehicle was last titled in District of Columbia

  1. Download and fill out the District of Columbia Duplicate Title Application
  2. Submit the application
    1. In person at the Department of Motor Vehicles
      1. Time frame: 10 business days
      2. Cost to obtain: $30
    2. By mailing the application to:
      DC DMV
      P.O. Box 90120
      Washington, DC, 20090

      2. Cost to obtain: $30

If the vehicle was last titled outside of District of Columbia

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
