How do I get a duplicate title in Georgia?

Instructions on obtaining a duplicate Georgia (GA) title

Georgia utilizes electronic titles. If your title is electronic, you will need to obtain a physical copy prior to pickup.

If the vehicle was last titled in Georgia

  1. Download and fill out the Georgia Duplicate Title Application
  2. Submit the application
    1. In person at the Motor Vehicle Division
      1. Time frame:7-10 business days (same day available at the Atlanta DOR office)
      2. Cost to obtain: $8 + additional fees
    2. By mailing the application to a local County Tag Office
      1. Time frame: 7-10 business days
      2. Cost to obtain: $8 + additional fees

If the vehicle was last titled outside of Georgia

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
