Maine utilizes electronic titles. If your title is electronic, you will need to obtain a physical copy prior to pickup.

If the vehicle was last titled in Maine

  1. Download and fill out the Maine Duplicate Title Application
  2. Submit the application
    1. Online
      1. Time frame: 2 weeks
      2. Cost to obtain: $46
    2. In person at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles
      1. Time frame: 2 weeks
      2. Cost to obtain: $33
    3. By mailing the application to:
      Division of Title Services
      Bureau of Motor Vehicles
      29 State House Station
      Augusta, ME 04333-0029
      1. Time frame: 2 weeks
      2. Cost to obtain: $33
        Rush title service is available for an additional $10

If the vehicle was last titled outside of Maine

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
