North Carolina utilizes electronic titles. If your title is electronic, you will need to obtain a physical copy prior to pickup.

If the vehicle was last titled in North Carolina

  1. Download and fill out the North Carolina Duplicate Title Application
  2. Submit the application
    1. In person at the Division of Motor Vehicles
      1. Time frame: 15 business days
      2. Cost to obtain: $25.50
    2. By mailing the application to:
      N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles
      3148 Mail Service Center
      Raleigh, NC 27697-3148
      1. Time frame: 15 business days
      2. Cost to obtain: $25.50

If the vehicle was last titled outside of North Carolina

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
