New York utilizes electronic titles. If your title is electronic, you will need to obtain a physical copy prior to pickup.

If the vehicle was last titled in New York

  1. Download and fill out the New York Duplicate Title Application
  2. Submit the application
    1. Online at the Department of Motor Vehicles
      1. Time frame: 2-3 business days
      2. Cost to obtain: $20
    2. In person at the Department of Motor Vehicles
      1. Time frame: 5-7 business days
      2. Cost to obtain: $20
    3. By mailing the application to:
      New York State Department of Motor Vehicles
      Title Bureau
      PO Box 2750
      Albany, NY 12220-0750
      1. Time frame: 6-8 weeks
      2. Cost to obtain: $20

If the vehicle was last titled outside of New York

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
